An article printed in today’s edition of the Enterprise newspaper reported the withdrawal of funds for the Boys JV Hockey program to fund the Girls Varsity Hockey Program. There was some confusion regarding the areas of funding and the amounts. I spoke directly with WH Athletic Director Jim Daley who was able to clarify what this means, as well as speaking to Coach Manning and the Rockland Ice Arena regarding the status and potential impact to the Boys hockey program.

I feel confident in saying at this time that although we face some difficult times for next season, it is not as devastating as the article may have portrayed. We may have to change the way we have done business in the past and I am certain that for us to move forward it will take the help of all of our parents. We have a few ideas that may help, but they are just ideas at this point that are being looked into.

There WILL BE a Varsity and JV Hockey program next season. That being said, I will be contacting each of you towards the end of the summer regarding what lies ahead and what will be needed for the programs to thrive.
